SAF Tour Frequently Asked Questions
How often do you do tours?
We have at least one tour every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, excluding major holidays. We also frequently add additional tour dates and special tours, so keep checking back for the full schedule.

Do you do tours in the rain?
All tours are conducted rain or shine. In the rare event of extremely adverse weather (wind, heat, snow or ice) SAF will cancel a tour to protect guest safety. (See "What's your exchange/refund policy" below)

How strenuous are the tours?
We recommend our tours to guests who are comfortable walking and standing for at least two hours. Tour participants are responsible for their own personal safety. Most routes involve hills, stairs, escalators and elevators. SAF is not responsible for construction, demolition and road repair conditions which might alter tour routes. We are also not responsible for buildings and homeowners who are not ADA compliant. SAF suggests weather appropriate attire and comfortable shoes.

Who guides the tours?
SAF Tour Guides are volunteers who attend a sanctioned guide training course. Some of them are design professionals (architects, landscape architects, interiors designers, etc.) while others are community volunteers from all walks of life. Guides are scheduled by their availability and there is no guarantee that a certain guide will be leading a specific tour on any given date.

Can I bring my kids along?
Except for the Family Tour: Eye Spy Seattle, SAF tours are not recommended for children under age 12.

Will you give me a map of the tour?
SAF tour scripts and maps are for SAF programming only; we do not generally provide copies of these materials to guests.

Can I take photos on the tour?
Photography rules vary by location; your guide will let you know if there are public buildings where photography is not allowed. Photography is not allowed in any private home open during a tour.

How do I buy tickets?
This SAF website links directly to Brown Paper Tickets (BPT), the official SAF ticket agent. You can buy tickets 24/7, through our website or online at www.BrownPaperTickets.com. BPT also has a 24/7 toll free phone center: 800.838.3006. BPT accepts Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. Service fees apply.

BPT has a walk-up ticket window at 220 Nickerson St., Seattle, which is open 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and 8 am to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday.

You may also purchase tickets at the SAF office, which is open 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and 9 am to 1 pm, Saturday. We accept Visa or MasterCard, checks or cash. There is no service fee if you buy your tickets at the office. SAF is unable to process mail, phone or fax orders.

Can I buy my ticket on the day of the tour?
Advance purchase is highly recommended; spaces are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. A $5 advance purchase discount is offered on all tours. We do not maintain waiting lists for sold out tours. For day of ticket purchases for tours which begin off-site, exact change, in cash, is required.

What's your exchange/refund policy?
Should you be unable to attend your tour, you can exchange your tickets up to 24 hours prior to the start of the tour. Call the service center at BPT at 877.278.4842 or e-mail support@brownpapertickets.com for their exchange policy details.

Refunds are available only in the event SAF cancels a tour; the full ticket price of your tour will be refunded and you will also receive a complimentary reservation to an additional tour of your choice. SAF will endeavor to notify all guests in advance of a cancellation and you will be contact regarding your refund.
